Center News China Research Center celebrates 10th Anniversary Established in 2001 with seven Associates, the Center celebrated its 10th year anniversary this fall. Now with 24 Associates and five esteemed Advisory Board members, the Center actively promotes education about greater China with an annual lecture series, the China Currents journal, faculty development and corporate training, and numerous public programs throughout each year. The Center would like to gratefully acknowledge a grant from the Luce Foundation initiated by Dr. Mary Brown Bullock, one of the Center's Advisory Board members. Dr. Yasheng Huang gives the Center's Annual Lecture, November 3rd, 2010 Dr. Huang is professor of political economy and international management and holds the International Program Professorship in Chinese Economy and Business at Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His presentation was on "Entrepreneurship in China." The Center's Annual Lecture Series was hosted this year by the Halle Institute at Emory University. The event was also co-sponsored by the Hong Kong Association of Atlanta, Georgia Tech CIBER, and the National Association of Chinese Americans. He also gave a second lecture at Georgia Tech, co-hosted with CISTP, entitled "Chinese Economy: Dynamics & Challenge." The Center would like to thank all of those who co-sponsored Dr. Huang's visit to Atlanta and helped to make this event successful. Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences Visiting Scholar at Tech Dr. Shixin Jiao, a researcher with the Asia-Pacific Institute of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences is spending the September 2010-March 2011 period as a visiting scholar at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs of Georgia Tech. Dr. Jiao holds a Ph.D. from Fudan University, School of International Relations and Public Affairs. He has researched in the areas of China's relations with Southeast Asia, China's soft power, and China's relation to international human rights regimes.
