Events Public Lecture at GSU: Dr. Karl Gerth, January 13th, 2011, 3:00 p.m. Dr. Karl Gerth, an internationally recognized authority on Chinese consumerism and a professor of Chinese Studies at Oxford University (UK), will hold a conversation on China and the rise of a consumer economy with GSU President, Dr. Mark Becker. His latest book, As China Goes, so Goes the World: How Chinese Consumers are Transforming Everything, has been described as essential reading for anyone trying to make sense of China today. This presentation will be in the Speakers Auditorium in the GSU Student Center on January 13th, 2011, from 3-5:00 p.m. The program is free and open to the public. This conference is part of the ongoing Knowledge Futures series at Emory University that seeks to bring together thought leaders from a variety of disciplines to discuss new and changing models of knowledge management. It aims to provide a platform for language educators and technology specialists to present their research and practices in integrating technology into the teaching and learning of languages and cultures. Participants will learn how technology is being used in developing curriculum, creating instructional materials, and designing learning tasks; and how current research and new technologies have impacted the way we teach and learn foreign languages.
